4. Why is there an urgency to fight for ‘the faith’?
In contrast to the beloved, who does Jude now identify?
Where are they?
What are they?
What do they do? (v4)
Let’s Bring It Home!
There is an urgency to fight for ‘the faith’ because there is an enemy within the church.
In contrast to the beloved, Jude now begins to identify the false within who are ungodly.
1. Certain persons have snuck into the Church.
They are deceptive and present within.
These are pastors, teachers in seminaries, Bible studies, Sunday School who represent Christ.
2. They are ungodly.
Their conduct is immoral.
They are controlled by and live by the lust of their flesh.
3. They cheapen God’s grace using it for a license to sin.
They deny our only Master and Lord Jesus.
Their belief is heretical.
They change Truth. Attack Truth.
Thus, they do great damage.
Understand: This began early on within the church.
4. These false persons and their judgment was written long ago, beginning with Enoch, then through the prophets, all the way to Peter.
Their judgment was predicted.
Their end is already determined.
It was written for our instruction, that through perseverance and encouragement we might have hope.
Understand: The attack on the faith comes from inside the church.
Most scholars refer to this as apostasy. Those who professed faith, have known it, and left it.
Apostasy comes in a subtle denial and disobedience to the Word.
Are you beginning to see what happens when we slow down to really LOOK at what God says? Do you see how the meaning just flows out of our time spent in His Word?
No guessing, no assumptions, no opinions.
He did not make it hard! We have answered the questions straight from God’s Word to us!

Let’s Bow Before the Father
Perhaps. . .
FATHER GOD WHO ART IN HEAVEN, we continue to praise You and thank you for Your Word, Your Word that is a sure Word. Oh, help us to see Your heart about Your Truth, that is without error, and as so many say, “absolutely non-negotiable“! We are grateful for this wake up call about the wolves that have crept into the church and do great damage. May we realize there will always be tares, and we need to be able to recognize them. So I ask that You open our eyes to such ones who profess Jesus, but deny You Lord by their deeds. Give us the wisdom and the discernment we need to recognize these persons – their character of deception; their conduct of immorality; and their belief that is false and changes Truth. Help us to understand the battle and be faithful to fight against such ones who twist and turn Your Truth! May we earnestly contend for the faith! And may we be about Your business raising up another generation who will continue to defend Your Truth, no matter what. We ask these things in the blessed name of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ! Amen!
I am so proud of you, for you are doing the one thing that is necessary, learning to sit at the feet of Jesus, in His presence, listening to what He has to say to you personally through His Word and the power of the Holy Spirit! I thank God you have been willing!
Please know that God established a pattern for mankind, and that pattern is that we work six days, and then we have one day that we set aside to rest, and replenish our body, and focus on worshiping God.
Rest tomorrow and worship God!
See you in a couple of days.
