Unlock the Meaning
Key Words to Reflect On
Let’s crack open Wisdom!
To Understand Wisdom
Check Out the Meaning
Wisdom, sophía; (II) In a higher sense, wisdom, deep knowledge, natural and moral insight, learning, science, implying cultivation of mind and enlightened understanding.
(C) In respect to divine things, wisdom, knowledge, insight, deep understanding, represented everywhere as a divine gift, and including the idea of practical application.
Sophia stands for divine wisdom; the ability to regulate one’s relationship with God. (Lk 2:40; 1Co 1:30; 2:6, 7; 12:8; Eph 1:17; Col 1:9; Jas 1:5; 3:13, 15, 17; 2Pe 3:15).
TIP: Remember to take what you have learned back to the text, to see what it means in its context.
“But if any of you lacks wisdom [deep understanding; divine wisdom; the ability to regulate one’s relationship with God],”
Why do we need wisdom?
Why not ask for strength, etc.?
Because: Wisdom is the right use of knowledge; the skill to apply knowledge!
Remember: This may sound crazy but God is maturing us, we don’t want the trial to be for naught!
Make it count – for His Glory and Your Good!
When do we need wisdom?
When going through trials we need wisdom, God’s wisdom, to:
understand the trial;
to face the trial;
to consider it with joy;
to remember it is producing endurance;
to let it do its work; and
to know how to respond.

What Did We Learn?
Let’s Sum It Up!
When going through a trial, the place to go is God!
Because wisdom belongs to God, then He is the only one who gives it.
The beginning of wisdom is to fear the LORD.
Wisdom is: seen in Christ;
seen in the knowledge of Christ;
revealed by the Spirit.
Remember, You Want to LISTEN to God!
We want to engage with God.
Letting His Word go down deep,
Take root in our lives!
God speaks, and we are not to refuse Him, (Heb 1:1-2; 12:25).
Therefore, it is critical to HEAR! To have ears that hear, hear with understanding, (Mar 4:23-24); (Luk 8:8).
This is when we LISTEN to the Lord speak to us personally through His Word and Spirit, (Joh 14:16-7; 16:13).
What Did You Hear God Speak
The Spirit might be asking?
Where do I go to get wisdom?
When facing a trial, who do I run to?
Do I run to God?
Do I want God’s wisdom?
Or, do I follow the world’s wisdom?
Do I really fear the Lord?
How does the Spirit reveal God’s wisdom, the profound and hidden things to me?

Let’s Take What We LEARNED and Turn it Into a Prayer
OH FATHER, THE WISE GOD, as we go through life’s trials, what a comfort You have given us as You unveiled more of Your Truth to us today. We recognize that wisdom belongs to You. That knowledge and understanding come from Your mouth and are revealed to us by the Holy Spirit. Oh, that wisdom is seen in You, Lord Jesus! That God’s wisdom is in the knowledge of You, our beloved Lord. Oh Father, as the veil is removed from our eyes, may we acknowledge and confess the many times we have turned to man and not You. The many times we have followed the world’s wisdom and ways. May our trials not be wasted, but rather may we handle them as You would have us learn from them and grow from them. We ask this in Your glorious name, sweet Jesus! Amen!
You’re doing great! Hope to see you tomorrow!
Next: we will continue LOOKING @ ‘how’ we get God’s wisdom.
