Do you remember. . .

Why Jude Wrote This Letter?

Understand, everything that Jude wrote in his letter points back to the purpose.

The Purpose Was To:

1. Warn and expose certain persons, ungodly, who have crept into the church.

2. Encourage the called, beloved, and kept to contend for the faith.

Let’s Begin With Prayer

And Continue With an Attitude of Prayer

Perhaps. . .

Oh Lord,we come perhaps with hurried hearts and minds. As we open up what is right at our fingertips, please wipe away distractions and ease concerns that might be choking out our love for You and Your Word.  Please help us to see Your Truth. Make us understand the way of Your precepts, so we will meditate on You, Your Word, Your wonders and ways! Thank you!

If you get STUCK at any point in your discovery, stop, and pray!

GOD, your Creator, loves you and desires to reveal much to you.

Alway Begin LOOKING By READING

 Read this letter from God, written by Jude, as if it was written to you.

Because It Was!

Now READ Taking Small Bites

This Narrows Your Focus

Jude is broken down into paragraphs:

1:1-2;

1:3-4;

1:5-16;

1:17-23;

1:24-25.

TIP: In your hardbound Bibles Paragraphs are designated by:

– an indentation;

– a paragraph symbol; and/or

– a bold face number.

Now LEARN to READ With Purpose

Have you ever read something, and 5 minutes later you couldn’t remember what you read?

Learning to read with a purpose will change that!

We Always Want to Consider:

Who is speaking; and to whom?

What is happening?

Where is it happening?

When is it happening?

Why is it happening or, why did it happen?

How did it happen?

Asking Questions Helps You

SLOW Down

  1. See the complete picture;
  2. See how everything relates to one another; and
  3. Remember what you read.

This is the most critical skill to learn in order to see God’s Word accurately!

Let’s Give It a Try!

Read the 1st 2 paragraphs, Jude 1:1-4.

As you do, ask the who, what, where, when, why and how questions.

And because this was the hardest skill for me to learn, I have done it for you hoping it will teach you how to do this.

This is the most critical skill you can learn!

Loved his master;

Was a freed slave, but;

Am I a bond-servant of Jesus?

How am I serving the Lord, and living for Him?

Perhaps God is saying more. . .

Is Jesus truly my Master and Lord, and I am no longer my own?

If yes, what does this look like in my life?

-Am I living independently, or dependently, upon Jesus, who is God?

-Am I calling the shots in my life, or letting God? How so?

-What must I do to break that independence and live dependently upon God and Jesus?

How am I serving the Lord and living for Him?

What must I do to die to self?

What gives evidence that I am devoted to Jesus Christ?

Am I willing to submit and obey Jesus, no matter what?

Respond to Him. . . LIVE it out!

That’s It For Today!

THINK: What a blessing and privilege to to be a slave of the Lord Jesus Christ, the perfect Master, who:

loves us, (Joh 3:16);

made us sons and daughters, (Gal 3:26)

provides for our every need, (Phil 4:19);

protects us, (2Th 3:3);

and will never leave us or forsake us, (Heb 13:5).

Chat with the Lord! He so loves you!

Let’s Bow Before the Father

FATHER GOD, we offer praise to You today, for Your goodness and greatness. We thank you for Your Word, and for this faithful servant who wrote this letter to encourage and warn us. How wonderful to meet this man Jude, who was Your half-brother and did not believe You, Jesus! Yet now, he is telling us he is a servant of Yours. Help us to pay close attention to what You want us to know and understand about this man, who we know is to be an example to us. Give us ears to hear and eyes to see. Don’t let us miss a thing, Father. Thank you so much. We ask these things in Jesus’ name. Amen!
