Let’s Pray

And Continue With an Attitude of Prayer

Perhaps. . .

O God, we come today earnestly seeking You. We do thirst and yearn for You in this dry and weary land, (Psa 63:1).  Give us eyes to see and ears to hear Your Word today. Help us understand what You are saying and why. May we live according to Your Word. Thank you.

If you get STUCK at any point in your discovery, stop, and pray!

Context

We have unmasked these certain persons, the ungodly, who are false, and we know they are within the church.

So now the Questions Are –

How do the beloved protect themselves from the false teachings?

How do they contend for the faith while in the midst of these people who are a danger to the faith, God’s Truth?

To help us focus:

GODcha suggests to reflect on the beloved and the 4 things they are to do in verses 17-21.

Focus on Jude 1:17-19 – asking the who, what, where, when, why and how questions.

Understand, now in contrast to the ungodly, our focus shifts to the beloved.

What is the 1st thing the beloved are to do?

Why?

What had the apostle’s predicted would happen in the last days?

Do you see the contrast between the ungodly’s words of arrogance (v15-16) vs. the apostle’s words (v17).

THINK: What had Jude reminded the beloved that they knew?

Jud 1:5-7

APOSTLEapóstolos; a delegate; specially an ambassador of the gospel; officially a commissioner of Christ. The Lord chose the term apóstoloi to indicate the distinctive relation of the Twelve Apostles whom He chose to be His witnesses because in Class. Gr. the word was seldom used. Therefore, it designates the office as instituted by Christ to witness of Him before the world (John 17:18). It also designates the authority which those called to this office possess. However, the denomination seems from the very beginning to have been applied, in a much wider sense, to all who ministered as colleagues of the Twelve and bore witness of Christ (Acts 14:4, 14 of Paul and Barnabas.

What Did You LEARN

THINK and REASON

GODcha’s #15 LEARN Question.

15. ‘But you’ –what are the beloved to do? Why?

Sum It Up So Far!

The Beloved Must Remember God’s Word.

Remembering the gospel, God’s Word, was important to both Paul and Peter.

We Remember God’s Word Because:

From the beginning Satan has caused mankind to question God’s Word, the only weapon against the lies of the ungodly is God’s Truth.

Jesus said man does not live on bread alone, but by every Word of God.

Every Word is inspired (God breathed) profitable for doctrine, reproof, correction and training up in righteousness.

To Remember:

We must be diligent (study God’s Word) to be approved by God.

We are to be workmen who handle His Word accurately.

We are to be like the Bereans, and examine everything by lining everything up alongside the Word of God to see if it is true.

Remember What Was Spoken Beforehand About These Ungodly False Persons By the Apostles of Christ.

1. Christ’s Words regarding False Teachers.

The way is narrow that leads to life and FEW find it.

Many false prophets will arise and mislead MANY.

2. The Apostle’s Words regarding False Teachers.

Savage wolves will come in among you, from among you.

People will arise speaking perverse things, drawing disciples away after them.

In latter times

Some will fall away from the faith by the hypocrisy of liars seared in their own conscience.

In the last days, difficult times will come,

Men will be lovers of self and pleasure rather than God,

They will hold to a form of godliness, but by their lives deny it’s power.

A time will come when some:

Will not endure sound doctrine;

Wanting their ears tickled they will accumulate teachers in accordance with their own desires;

Will turn away from the Truth and turn to myths.

Understand Christ and His apostles told us mockers would come, so this should not shock us.

Believers Are To:

GUARD the Treasure!

Be ON GUARD!

Be ALERT!

Avoid such men as these!

Turn away from them!

Remember as you readask the 5W and H questions.

1. What has Jude told us that the ungodly revile (mock)?

Jud 1:10

These ungodly revile (mock) what they do not understand, the Truth,

Thus, they mock the Truth about the  coming of the Lord’s judgment.

2. When will there be mockers?

Jud 1:18

2Ti 3:1

Jam 5:3

1Pe 1:5, 20

1Jo 2:18

Heb 1:2

3. What do the mockers follow after?

We have already seen they follow their own lusts. They are controlled by their fleshly desires.

THINK: If we listen carefully, we will be able to hear someone’s heart by what they say and do.

Understand: What they teach and say, helps to satisfy how they want to live.

4. What is the result of their mocking and behavior?

What do mockers cause within the church?

What are they?

What are they void of?

  2. And cause separation, divisions.

WORLDLY MINDEDpsuchikós, soul, the part of the immaterial life held in common with the animals, as contrasted with spirit. Natural, pertaining to the natural as distinguished from the spiritual. Rendered as “natural” in 1 Cor. 2:14; 15:44, 46 and sensual in James 3:15; Jude 1:19.

What Did You LEARN

THINK and REASON

GODcha’s #15 LEARN Question.

15. ‘But you’ –what are the beloved to do? Why?

Bring It All Together!

The Beloved Must Remember Mockers Will Come in the Last Time (the last days, last hr)

The last time began when God began speaking to us through His Son.

It is the period of time between His 1st coming and His 2nd coming.

We are living in this period of time.

Mockers:

1. Follow their own lusts – controlled by their flesh.

2. Cause divisions – instead of keeping the unity.

They separate themselves by thinking they are at a higher level appearing to those ignorant of Truth to have a deeper knowledge into God’s Word.

Divisions – disputes, dissensions, factions are works of the flesh.

They are promoting doctrine contrary to what they had been taught.

Preserving unity is based on true doctrine.

3. Are worldly mindedsensual, the opposite of spiritual, natural.

The natural man cannot accept the things of the Spirit of God, they are foolishness to him. He cannot understand them because they are spiritually appraised.

Wisdom that is not from God is earthly, natural, and demonic.

4. Do not have the Spirit of God.

If anyone does not have the Spirit of God, they are of the flesh, and do not belong to God.

If one has the Spirit, they are not their own and they glorify God in their body.

15. Do I understand why I must know and remember God’s Word?

What am I doing daily to remember God’s Word so I will be discerning?

Perhaps. . . the Spirit is nudging you to go deeper.

Who am I listening to?

God’s Word?

Or, man’s words?

Can I recognize words that are false?

Am I being misled?

Have I fallen away from the faith? Why?

Do I love God?

Or, am I a lover of self and pleasure?

Do I want sound doctrine?

Or, would I rather have my ears tickled, walking away feeling warm and fuzzy?

Do I live godly?

Or, do I hold to a form of godliness, but my lifestyle denies its power?

Do I turn to Truth?

Or, turn away from the Truth to myths?

Am I quick to turn from ungodly, false teachers?

Or, have I turned away from God?

Let’s Bow Before the Father

GRACIOUS FATHER IN HEAVEN, we are so grateful for Your Word that is a sure Word of Truth. That is a lamp to our feet, and a light to our path. We who are the beloved, gifted with You, Holy Spirit, we thank you for making Your Word clear to each one of us and giving us the understanding we need.  Oh, may we all understand how important Your Truth is! Help us to be diligent to study and learn Your Word of Truth, so we will handle it accurately and be discerning. And as we learn and know Your Word, help us to rehearse it over and over to remember it, especially everything we are learning about the false teachers who are among us, that were predicted by You, sweet Jesus, and Your apostles.  Help us to be on guard and alert, sensitive to You, Holy Spirit, as You bring these Truths to our remembrance to recognize the false and turn away from them. Oh, may we be strong and courageous to contend for Your Truth, the faith, no matter what.

And Father, if there be any on this journey who can’t recognize the false teachers, who are being deceived and led astray, please help open their eyes, now. Thank You for: 1) Your teaching that is warning us today of false teachers; 2) may You reprove – admonish and convince us of any false we have been taught; 3) correct – set us straight in our thinking and behavior; and 4) continue to train (discipline) us up in righteousness, 2Ti 3:16-17. Oh, may we not be lazy, but may we be like the Bereans, examining everything to protect ourselves from false teachings. We ask this in Christ’s name. Amen!

Fantastic! Keep pressing forward!

NextWe will continue to look at the instructions Jude gives to the beloved.
