What Did You LEARN
Dreams are associated with prophecy – the proclamation of God’s Truth.
Dreams by the prophecy of Joel and the confirmation of Peter have to do with God revealing Himself.
God used dreams in the OT to communicate His messages to His people.
God’s primary way of speaking to us today – is through Christ, through His Word, Heb 1:1-2.
God may use dreams today (2020) to reach those who do not have access to His Word, such as the many Muslims who give testimony that Jesus has come to them in their dreams, revealing Himself to them.
If believer’s have a dream they must test the spirit, and line it up with the Word of God.
“God may communicate through dreams or visions even today, but we need to carefully check any such guidance we receive with Scripture and godly counsel to be sure it is from the Lord. Anything which contradicts Scripture is not from God. Our minds and even Satan are capable of producing great deception in such subjective areas.” BGEA Staff
False Teachers dreams always want to direct you away from the Truth.
False Teachers dreams are not revelatory, but rather of their own imaginations, coming from fleshly minds.
Even if their dream comes true –
Believers are not to listen to the False Prophets.
Believers are being tested.
If we follow them, listen to them, we prove we do not love God.
THINK: Who comes to mind? Who says God speaks to them in their dreams?
Does Joseph Smith come to your mind, the founder of the Mormon Church?
I think of a very well known teacher, who now claims and takes a stand on endless accounts of visions from God that subtly contradict Truth, and she regularly teams up with heretics, and the church welcomes her with open arms.
What are you to do?
Can you detect error before it infects your life?

DEFILE THE FLESH, miaínō; contaminate (ceremonial or morally):—defile. To stain. In the NT: pollute, defile: (I) In the Levitical sense (Jn 18:28). (II) In a moral sense (Jude 8).
They are immoral.
The Grammar: The Present Indicative Active (pin)
REJECT AUTHORITY, athetéō; To displace, to abrogate, abolish, get rid of. In the NT: (I) To make void, render null, such as a commandment; (II) To deny, despise, condemn, such as Moses’ law.
If they deny God’s Word, then they disobey it.
The Grammar: The Present Indicative Active (pin)
REVILE, blasphēméō; to vilify; specially to speak impiously: blaspheme, defame, rail on, revile, speak evil.
They have no respect for angelic majesties.

How do they do this?
Let’s LOOK at the ministry of angels.
What do you learn about the angels and the giving of the Law?

The angels had a role in the giving and the ordaining of the Law.
“They are guardians of the sacred Word of God.” John MacArthur
Do You See: To blaspheme angels, is to blaspheme God and His holy Law?
SEE: This goes back to rejecting authority, the authority of the Word of God over their lives. The ungodly have little regard for the Word of God, thus, not willing to submit to it.
The angels, who have been blasphemed will come when the Lord comes to judge the ungodly.
THINK:
The false –
who change Truth and deny our only Master and Lord,
who are immoral, disobedient to the Lord and blasphemous,
will direct you to do the same.
Concentrate on Jude 1:9 – asking the who, what, where, when, why and how questions.
Do you see Jude contrasts these men with Michael?

What did Michael do in contrast to these men?

Michael the Archangel
Michael is contrasted with these certain persons.
Out of curiosity, I checked out Michael in the dictionary:
MICHAEL, Michaeâl, “who is like God?”
ARCHANGEL, archággelos; a chief angel. Of these there are said to be seven, who stand immediately before the throne of God (Lk 1:19; Rev 8:2), who have authority over other angels (Rev 12:7), and are the patrons of particular nations (Da 10:13; 12:1).

NOTE: Scholars say there must have been an argument over Moses body that was revealed to Jude by the Spirit (1Pe 1:20-21); (2Ti 3:16-17).
What we need to focus on is what Michael did.
Did Michael argue with Satan and tell him what to do?
SEE: Michael, the archangel, a holy angel, doesn’t even blaspheme Satan.
THINK: Have you ever been with people who were audacious enough to rebuke Satan and/or demons, spirits, telling them what to do?
Knowing God uses Satan as His instrument (Job 1-2), why would we think we can tell Satan, and/or the demons, what to do if God has a purpose in using them as His tool?
Jude perhaps is showing us how we are to deal with Satan.

Sum It Up!
These certain persons, the ungodly, do what Israel, the angels, and S/G did.
These false:
1. Defile the flesh: meaning they are immoral, indulging their fleshly desires;
2. Reject all authority: meaning the authority and control of Jesus who is God in the flesh, their Creator, who died, but was raised from the dead.
They deny Jesus as Master and Lord over their lives.
3. Blaspheme angels, even the devil.
Angels were associated with the giving of God’s holy Law, and will come with Jesus when He returns.
But Michael, God’s holy angel, would not blaspheme the devil, a bad angel. Michael dealt with Satan, by turning him over to the Lord, “The Lord rebuke you.”
4. They Do These Things because they don’t understand, they are spiritually ignorant.
They revile, blaspheme where they have no knowledge.
They are blinded and deceived.
They profess to be wise, but they are fools.
Their ungodliness drives them like an unreasoning animal.
They will be destroyed.

Can I recognize such persons in my church?
Or, do I profess Christ, and I am one of these people?
Do I claim to have visions and dreams?
Do I defile my flesh? Am I living an immoral life?
Do I profess Christ, but reject His authority and rule over my life?
Do I go around telling Satan, the devil what to do? Why?
Do I realize God sent Satan to Job?
How could I possibly know what God is doing with Satan, His servant, His instrument?
Am I ignorant of the knowledge of the Truth, the Word of God?
Am I in the natural condition, not able to understand the things of God, like a dumb animal?
What will I do?
Respond to Him. . .LIVE it out!

Let’s Bow Before the Father
GRACIOUS FATHER IN HEAVEN, we thank you so much for Your Word to us! Thank you that it is indeed a sure Word of Truth, that is a light to our path, to train and equip us for the battle against Your Truth! Cement these characteristics down deep into our being so we will be able to recognize such persons who are false within the church, perhaps our very own church families. I can think of so many today who are dangerously taking a stand claiming God speaks to them in their dreams, and yet if we line up what they say, their visions contradict Your Word, which then is rejecting the authority of Your Word. I can think of a well known woman writer who talks about making love to You, God, and so on and so on. And others who I have heard audaciously rebuking the devil. Oh Lord, help each of us to stand firm, and faithfully contend and defend Your Truth, the faith.
And, if there is anyone on this journey who has examined themselves, and realizes they have rejected Your gospel, seeing these characteristics in their own life, may Your Truth set them free! May they bow the knee to You, Lord Jesus, in repentance and belief receiving forgiveness for their sin. We ask these things in Your precious name, Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior!
