Lord, we come today, asking that You quiet our hearts and help us to concentrate. Help us to hear Your voice and be able to think and reason. Please give us clarity of mind so we will walk away today with more understanding.

James is giving us a series of tests.
We have seen:
trials,
temptations,
the Word,
the needy,
works, and
our words
are all series of tests to prove genuine faith.
What was Chapter 3:1-12 about?
Chapter 3 began with not many should become teachers because we will incur a stricter judgment.
And then James widened the warning, including all of us who have a tongue, impressing the importance of our speech and the consequences of our words.
Keep this in mind and think how these warnings might connect to the next paragraph.
